Abstract

Baroque festivals left fingerprint in the written discourse in 17th century Spain beyond the so-called relaciones de fiestas. This article explore the procedure of fixing the memory from the festive event in the extensive historical narrative that guaranteed their survival. First we look for the religious discourse level, focus on the reception of the beatification festivals texts in historical ecclesiastical genre (hagiography, conventual history, chronicle, from the dominic province of Aragon). On the other hand, we analyze the use of the religious pageantry (and some royal burials) in some baroque histories of the city of Seville.
