Abstract

Francis Bacon is one of the key artists for an understanding of the relationship between the cinema and painting in the 2"d half of the 201h century. On the one hand his painting is strongly influenced by film-making techniques, above ali from the silent cinema, and on the other film directors - from the most avant-garde to the most commercial, working in the United States - were inspired by his work.
