Abstract

At the beginning of the 17th century the Discalced Carmelites founded a monastery in Ubeda dedicated to St. Michael. The main chapel of the monastery church was to be built by the Pedro de Segura Trust. However, disagreement arose between the monastery authorities and the heirs of de Segura over the payment of 300 ducats which were owed to the Carmelites, and were needed to begin building the chapel. The Carmelite Prior then asked Ambrosio de Vico, grand master of Granada cathedral to take care of the plans, which are preserved together with the lawsuit.
