Abstract

In this article we discuss the main features of the work of Franc isco Hurtado Izquierdo. In the atmosphere of artistic collaboration between Córdoba and Granada existing in the tirst half of the l 7'h century, this painter from Lucena was able to combine the mannerist and ltalian styles with truly personal innovation. Our study of sorne of the projects he undertook in Córdoba reveals an artist who was concerned with renewal and the exchange of ideas, while at the same time remaining deeply influenced by tradition.
