Abstract

The Order of the Holy Trinity and Redemption of Captives was reformed at the end of the 16'" century (1599) by St. John the Baptist of the Conception, and the discalced section was formed. Like other orders the Holy Trinity soon began to publish books with accounts of its history and its rites, illustrated with engravings. The present paper analyses the frontispieces of five of the most importan! works published by the Order, which were created by four of the most importan! engravers of the 17th century.
