Abstract

In the present study the place of architectural heritage in the wider area of cultural heritage is established. A survey is offered of the different sources available for a study of the history of architecture and the historical and social importance of our architectural heritage. This helps us to understand the nature of architecture and its history. We enumerate the types of infonnation which can be obtained from a study of this heritage and we emphasise the need to preserve, restore and use it adequately, while always respecting its identity and taking into account its historical context.
