Abstract

The Order of St. Jerome was one of the first to found a monastery in Granada, as part of the plan of the Catholic Kings to create a New Jerusalem. The present paper discusses sorne property belonging to the nuns of the Order. Alonso de Mena, one of the most importan! sculptors of the time, created some reliquary busts which we analyse in detail. In this he was following the directives of the Council of Trent, which encouraged the cult of religious relics.
