Abstract

Francisco Aranda Delgado (1807-1858) was one of the most importan! landscape painters of the 19th century. He travelled through France and ltaly, and kept in touch with the main foreign painters of the time. His works are characterized by his skill in perspective, colour, design, light and shade, and the realism of the representation, with a clear influence of visual spectacles such as dioramas or panoramas. These were very popular and had great influence on 19'h century theater and painting. This article pays special attention to the works performed in Valencia during the 1845-1846 theater season.
