Abstract

The discovery in Ciudad Real of the etching by Francisco Heylan, the Virgen del Prado (Virgin of the meadows) provides more information on this artists chalcographic work. What is interesting about this finding is that it is his only known religious etching, and that it was created around 1640, a period when few prints by the same artist have been found. Moreover, this cngraving is the first known image of the Virgen del Prado of Ciudad Real.
