Abstract

In the middle of the 20th century the Instituto Nacional de Colonización was involved in programmes of town planning and construction which represen! one of the last and most interesting periods of territorial control carried out in Spain. Although examples of the policy of the Franco regime are well-documented in Andalusia, the new village of San Agustín in the area of Dalías is a good example of this policy in the province of Almería. In the present study we analyse the building process and also the main features of the dwellings, which were built in keeping with the traditional style of the area.
