Abstract

Through his work Matías Fernández-Fígares contributed to the modernization of Granada, and he was particularly active in the complex debates on town planning at one of the most interesting moments in the development of the town. He designed a great number of houses and plans. Sorne of the most emblematic projects in 20th century architecture in Granada are his: the 'Cármenes' football stadium, the Fígares quarter, or the building designed for the Bank of Madrid in Gran Vía.
