Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to provide an overview on the extension of copyright for the reproduction of historic or artistic works which are in the public domain. Intellectual property refers to those creations of the mind which are protected as long as they are original. In this case, the definition of originality plays a fundamental role in order in settling these legal disputes and on influencing the policies for access to the collections.
