Abstract

This paper reflects on the search for a representative architecture during the first decades of the Franco dictatorship in Spain. We focus in the city of Salamanca between 1940 and 1947 in the area bounded by the main streets Toro, Rector Tovar, Rector Lucena and Vázquez Coronado. The buildings of this urban block show a historicist style that influenced the architecture of the rest of the city during the 1940s and 1950s.
