Abstract

Thanks to the intense trade carried out over the galleon route to Manila, which brought East and West together, the Philippine Islands became an area of intercultural contacts. This led to the growth of art forms which were the result of the mixture of Eastern, New Spanish and Spanish influences. The best example of this cultural synergy is to be found in the Hispano-Philippine ivory work which have been handed down to us, and in Granada we are lucky enough to have some magnificent examples, which will be discussed in this paper.
