Abstract

Among those iconographic forms and motifs which a society’s religious culture has traditionally been expressed, popular crosses have some of the most representative. This is so, since —and this is the case in Granada, and specifically in one of its most historical quarters, the Albaicin— they have helped to define the city’s public image and to transmit not simply religious or spiritual concepts, but also those of a political, social or more broadly cultural nature.
