Abstract

One of the new developments in the management of our cultural and natural heritage which is changing the traditional idea of patrimony and the criteria which should govern its protection is the merging of different types of patrimony present in a specific region. This is being carried out by means of two complex processes: the classification of a region by its artistic patrimony and the classification of patrimony by region. This article aims to discuss the differences which exist between these processes and clarify their positive and negative aspects as criteria for the management of our artistic heritage.
