Abstract

The present paper covers a difficult and controversial period of the history of the 20th century, that of the interwar years. This was a time of crisis, of militarism, of exaggerated nationalism, of the glorification of power, of passionate political debates, etc. Art and culture were to develop more than ever under the aegis of power and of ideology, especially with the rise of two different totalitarian regimes which will gradually impose themselves on Europe, a process in which Spain also became involved.
