Abstract

Hilarión González de Castillo, taking advantage of the socio-political and economic climate in Spain under the rule of Primo de Rivera, attempted to put his plans for town planning in Morocco into effect. His idea was to create a continuous town between Tetuán and Ceuta. His concept slowly distanced itself from the linear vision of Arturo Soria until it merged with the idea of a garden city, thus forming a different and modernizing scheme, into which the peculiarities of a colonial territory —as the Kingdom of Morocco then was— had to be integrated.
