Abstract

The transition between the Baroque and the Neoclassical period still offers many fields of study. One of these is that of devotional sculpture, and here we analyse one of the works of Jaime Folch Costa, a wellknown academic sculptor, though little studied. His years in Granada left us sculptures which provide us with a clearer picture of this transitional period. As an example, we examine the references found in the parish archive of Restábal (Granada) to an image of Jesus as Penitent and attempt to discover more information about this artist.
