Abstract

The naming of Santa Cruz de Tenerife as the capital of the Canary Islands Province in the nineteenth century required to show the ideas of power and progress in the city. The erection of new buildings and the pressure of the new and powerful social class, the bourgeoisie, set up sumptuous examples of the image of power in the capital, as the palace of the captain-general of the Canary Islands with its singular Throne Room.
