Abstract

Manolo Prieto (1912-1991) is an artist who is largely unknown to the broad public, and his only recognized work is the Osborne bull advertisement to be seen at the roadside in Spain. However, he was one of the most versatile Spanish artists of the 20th century, particularly in the field of advertising posters. One of his most intriguing facets is that of the maker of medallions, to which he devoted most of the last years of his life and which gained him a formidable national and international reputation. His production was considerable, totalling more than a hundred medallions and plates, which are described at the end of this article.
