Abstract

Our knowledge of the Casa de los Tiros, a sixteenth-century manor house in Granada, Spain, is still incomplete and fragmentary due to the contradictions and deficiencies of its historiography. The present paper has two main purposes: to correct some common mistakes about specific parts of the building and to deepen our understanding of its phases of construction, during both medieval and modern times. Furthermore, we will discuss such topics as the primitive location of the original Islamic house and the presence of a mosque before the sixteenth century reformation. We will also study how, during the eighteenth century, some nasrid columns were included in a central courtyard accessible through a direct entrance from the zaguan, imitating classical models.
