Abstract

Many things have been written about the minaret built by ‘Abd al-Raḥman III in the mosque of Cordoba. However, practically nothing has been written about the Christian intervention by Hernán Ruiz III at the end of the sixteenth century. This study tries to rescue from oblivion this figure of Andalusian architecture, whose most significant work was that intervention in the old Caliphate minaret. It is necessary to spread and to assess this building as a key component in the history of the Mannerist architecture in Andalusia, in order to promote the Andalusian artistic heritage.
