Abstract

Ignacio León Escosura is a painter whose contemporary importance and significance has only recently become known. Thanks to the historical archives of the New York Times,  we are now able to assess the impact of his work and his importance as an antiquarian in the United States, where he was considered an expert. in the newspaper we f ind texts linking his name to the f inest art auctions, including that of his own collection of antiques, and we can also see proof of his stays in different parts of the country, and of a slight posthumous scandal.
