Abstract

La leyenda del Rey Bermejo was the last title published of the Biblioteca Arte y Letras, a literary fundamental collection in the history of the literature with illustrations of the 19th century. Isidro Gil y Gavilondo, the author of the drawings of the book, makes a magnificent graphical reconstruction of Granada in the 15th century. The article analyzes the importance of the collection, the place of the work in it, the labor of the literary author (Rodrigo Amador de los Ríos) and the graphical author, and the importance that the illustrations have in this work, which are superior in quality to the text.
