Abstract

This paper proposes a new interpretation about three pieces of marble that Joaquin Bernad y Vargas hired in 1791, while he worked in the Council of La Laguna: a pair of pipes to distribute water and a headstone that reproduces the arms of the city. All were disegned to decorate the fountain of Tanque Grande, thereby completing a rehabilitation that included the participation of Angel Benevenuti and other members of his trading company. The discovery of new documents enables us to deepen these issues.
