Abstract

Jacopo Amigoni (Venice ca.1682/85-Madrid 1752) arrived in Spain in 1747. Among his works is the decoration of the ceiling of the State Dining Room in the Royal Palace in Aranjuez, carried out between 1748 and 1750. Four sketches of this work have been found in an anonymous notebook dating from the 18th century belonging to the Moreno Garrido collection. In 2008 Arturo Navarro attributed the authorship of this sketchbook to the French painter Charles Joseph Flippart; however, in this article we suggest that it may in fact be the work of Jacopo Amigoni.
