Abstract

In recent years the work of the Andalusian painter José Arpa Perea has been revaluated, which has given us a greater insight into his magnificent artistic work in the context of Spanish painting of the turn of the last century. However his work still provides us with interesting surprises, and one of these is the cycle of paintings inspired by scenes from Don Quixote, a series of forty-six small-sized works which can be considered one of the best series of paintings which illustrate scenes from Cervantes’ novel.
