Abstract

A coy of the treatise on architecture and perspective by Salvador M u ñoz ( 1 6 1 0- 1 636) has been found in Argentina. This is an example of the great number of studies copies of the great number of studies copies of which found their way to South America, due to the lack of publishing opportunities in Spain. Salvador Muños, architect and sculptor, worked in Madrid and Extremadura, based principally in Zafra. His best-known work consists mainly of altarpieces, and this work enabled him to maintain contacts with artists of the first order in 1 7th century Madrid. Analysis of the manuscript shows evidence of the presence of other treatieswriters, together with signs of the Yignola tradition: we thus have a picture of the author's artistic training, and samples of his personal opinions, which enhance the value of the manuscript.
