Abstract

The fact that the building know as the "Suizo" is at present being restored provides an interesting opportunity to discuss the history of what is perhaps the most significant building of 19th century Granada. It was built on the ground previously occupied by the Alhóndiga Zayda, and its architecture constitutres a clear example of a new fonn of town building, that developed by the urban bourgeois of the 19th century. Toe present study is structured in two complementary sections, covering town planning and architectural aspects on the one hand the place and function of town property on the other.
