Abstract

Within the general context of the concept of the town of Granada as an Eden-like garden, and centring on the figure of Elizabeth of Portugal, the author differentiates two types of landscapes. The first type is seen in the frescos of the «Tocador» of the Alhambra, that is to say narrative-type landscapes relating the battles of Charles the 5th, in a bucolic mode and representing scenes recalling the past and related to chorographic designs. The second manner is that of the portrait of Titian, with the open window as central metaphor, and is an example of tonal painting which reveals new emotional and moral values.
