Abstract

The present article deals with the phenomenon of the aesthetic experience of Spanish Jews of the Middle Ages. On the evidence of Spanish authors and their writings and of the Jewish tradition, those ideas are discussed which may have encouraged architectural originality within this community and led to its achieving a symbolic quality. The historical and geographical context is also considered, however, since these condition the works created, and forrn the basis of a series of cultural exchanges and relationships.
