Abstract

The intrinsic worth of the figure of Don Basilio Paraíso and of his building for the Melilla of the early years of this century is clearly reflected in the design prepared by the architect Mr. Nieto. Underlying and informing this, we can see the prospects for the economic growth of the town and of its urban development. Above ali, however, the design shows the establishing of a new architectural style in the town, that is to say, modernism, which defines what is to come, and which is now in danger of disappearing.
