Abstract

In the present paper we present an account of the brief period of time spent in Santiago de Compostela by the ltalian tenor Pietro Ricci. A study of the available documents shows us that he was awarded a post as tenor, after public examination, for a year (1802), on the condition that he improved his knowledge of music. He reapplied in 1 803, and despite a difference of opinion among members of the examining board, his post was extended for a further year. In July 1 803 he decided to leave, since he was not able to live on «the amount of money I receive».
