Abstract

During the 16th century towns in Andalusia and South America grew up round the town square with the main or mother church placed in the centre. This article offers a study of the parallelism between these two geographical areas which reveals how mudejar town planning and architecture became an interventionist instrument in the development of the town on both sides of the Atlantic.
