Abstract

In 1687 Juan de Rueda Alcántara, on the orders of the Inquisitor Fernando de Villamarín, presented a Project for the construction of new secret jails for the Court of the Inquisition in Granada. In the present study we analyze the plan and the elevation studies, based on the examination of the pertinent documents, and also discuss the problems which occurred during the building. These difficulties led to a bitter dispute between the Granada Court and the Council of the Inquisition.
