Abstract

This article intends to study in depth the experiences of women who practised teaching in Argentina during the period 1920-1950. Within this large subject, what concerns us is a specific aspect: female teachers` love life; more precisely, if practising teaching tensed the consolidation of relationship/love ties. So, using an interpretative reading of letters written by males and addressed to female teachers, we seek to reflect the difficulties between love and teaching profession. Those tensions give rise to sensitive figures such as admiration, friendship, and lack of love.
