Abstract

In Afghanistan, violence against women is widespread in the private and public spheres. This paper examines five visual discourses about some forms of aggression against women and girls. The snapshots captured by the cameras of Bronstein, Matthews, McCurry, Sanchez and Wahidy exhibit from different grammars about the problems of inequity in Afghanistan. This empirical contribution assay virtual observation as an analytic strategy of visual research methods. The pictures promise enriching approaches into our practices for study the international society.
