Abstract

The Franco victory in the Civil War inaugurated a totalitarian regime that by its beginnings were inspired by aesthetic, the tactics and the facist values. In agreement with the objective to indoctrinate to all the population under the falangista ideology one, the Francoism would develop an exhaustive control of all the facets of the daily life as well as of the mass media. In this context a series magazines for women is created. Between those magazines, Medina, could be outstanded, because in its pages it presents the model for women that the new Regime tries to create before the critical situation of postwar period.

Submission, service and sacrifice are the values transmitted to women, who must be (mainly) wives, mothers and servants of the Mother country. The life of the woman, in clear inferiority respect to men, is confined to the care of the home and the children, and its public life is limited to agreement and to collaborate with the interests of the Regime.
