Abstract

The study of the role attributed to the primigenial goddess Mnemosyne, as well as the
comparative analysis of the daughters the Muses, privileged spokespersons of celestial memory,
and of the Erynics, whose hymn recalls the crimes awaiting vengeance, allow us to discover the
conditions which control the femenine representations of the memory of origin, and also the
process of virilization undergone by the femenine features which characterize knowledge in
Greek thought.
