Abstract

In general, the analysis about the representations and symbolisations of human figure have
been done from a clear androcentric view, which have created an asexual interpretation about
the role of women in prehistoric societies. In this paper we study the prehistoric parietal representations
of human figures in Spanish Levante from the perspective of gender theory, stressing
the recovery of women's role in prehistoric societies from the archaeological record.
