Abstract

The author gives a survey on the lives of the women of Ecuador, mainlyin poor and
marginated sectos, living in a routinary everyday life, trying to discover their behaviour, the
way they think and expressing themselves about their conflictive marriage relationships. The
author has been using documents of divorce trials recorded in the Archives of the Curia Arquidiocesana
of Quito and Cuenca (Ecuador), as well as in the National Archives of these two cities.
