Abstract

At the end of the 15th. century the Catholic Kings undertook a vast programme of
religious reform, which they implemented with the determined support of the monks from the
Congregaciones de Regular Observancia and with the protection of their officials of justice.
This article analyzes the methos implemented by the Catholic Kings and their agents to
reestablish, through the use of force, the traditional male and female patterns of religiousness
in the Galician monasteries.
