Abstract

This study deals with the construction of political and personal image of two regent queens, by the historiography of "the Restaruración". Mariana de Austria y María Cristina de Habsburgo-Lorena, are judged by liberal ideology and burgueois moral. Therefore, in Canova's and Maura's works, the two queens adquire diverse images (angel or devil), beeing two examples more, in an european phenomenon that affected queens so distant as María Antonieta or queen Victoria.
