Abstract

The interpreting of the Lacedemonian pólis in the context of the historical dialectic, next to the non-androcentric analysis of the classic texts, carried from the feminist thinking, make possible to have a much more rich and diversified view of the Sparta's women, than the one developed from the traditional historiography. Following this guideline, the reading of Plutarch (2nd AD) work, Lycurg's Life, show up the Spartan women main role on the collective operation. They hold their own spaces and they enjoy an authority and identity that make them stand out in front of the rest of the contemporary Greek póleis women.
