Abstract

Reproduction, translation and study of some examples of the only incomplete manuscript copy that contains direct samples of the exegetic production of its author. These passages demonstrate that the Ibn Chiquitilla’s exegesis is developed at four levels: semantic, morphologic, syntactic and exegetic. Although both first levels continue the line drawn up by the Andalusian Hebrew grammarians of the 10th century, the emphasis is on the fusion of the oldest tradition with the intellectual trends of his time. The exegetic method develop by Ibn Chiquitilla is very critical and has a high intellectual quality.
