Abstract

Literary critics offer very different classifications of Nayib Mahfuz's narrative output according to the very different variables to be highlighted for that purpose: time and space, psychological and sociological trends, narrative techniques, literary schools, etc. After focussing on the realistic (1945-1952) and symbolistic (1959-1963) phases, as well as on the silent years in between, the author offers a full list of Mahfãz' works published in that period, as well as the translations available in spanish.
