Abstract

Contemporary poetry written in Arabic by women shows the transition from a traditional poetic mind with mimetic normative references to another one with free references, that’s is to say to a mentality that puts in question the prevailing discourse of masculine roots. The continuous interplay between social context and literary fact determines this gradual process along the 20th. century, with different literary stages coexisting in the same period depending on the Arab country considered.
