Abstract

Aims to throw new light on the events that happened around the conquest of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada at the beginning of sultan Nasr rule (1309-1314). From the Arabic and Christian sources, chronicles and archival documents it might be safely inferred that the Triple Alliance organized by James II, the King of Aragon, between the Kingdom of Castile, the Kingdom of Aragon and the Sultanate of Fes to attack, conquest and remove the Kingdom of Granada from the Iberian Peninsula in 1309, was defeated by sultan Nasr’s firm military control and expert diplomacy. The study highlights the decisive role of the Nasrid King in these events, and provides some precisions and rectifications on what was known about this until now.
