Abstract

The composition of panegyric works in prose started under the rule of Muhammad I, founder of the Nasrid dynasty, and became a very popular practice during the Nasrid period. The treatise on hypology Kitab al-ihtifal, by Ibn Arqam al-Numayri, is a vivid example; this article offers a detailed analysis of its content as well as the translation of the chapter headings in order to get a better understanding of the work in its context.
